The Who rocked the house in Orlando. The Saturday night, Nov. 3rd. show left the audience in awe of the rock gods that just performed before them. Both into their 60’s, Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend again prove they have what it takes to rock. This tour is a fantastic effort between two friends that have taken the amazing journey. This final presentation of Quadrophenia is a visual look back with The Who. The large video screen behind the stage grandly displays scenes of the ocean, and newsreel video. Taking one back in time with their tour guides. John Entwistle makes special appearance for 515, and Keith Moon appears for Bellboy. After the chilling Love, Reign O’er Me, the boys tore into a set with Baba O’Riley, The Kids Are Alright, Anyway Anyhow Anywhere, Behind Blue Eyes, Who Are You, Won’t Get Fooled Again, and finally Tea & Theatre. The band traveling with Roger and Pete are familiar faces. Simon Townshend on guitar, bassist Pino Palladino, drummer Zak Starkey, keyboardist Chris Stainton. This team sounds awesome, and shouldn’t be missed. You still have time.
The master of pop is winding down his tour out west. Peter Gabriel is out rolling on the 25th anniversary of So, his most successful album. PG and band return to the 80’s hits of So, reviving the sound he left months ago in pursuit of classical awesomeness with New Blood. His departure from the pop and into the classical carried his music into a new territory of sound. But now he and his band are rocking again, recapturing moments from the rich past. Certainly not the intensity of attention garnered in the 80’s when So was steaming hot. Posting top hits like Sledgehammer, Big Time, Red Rain, In Your Eyes, and Don’t Give Up. This tour has the feel of a victory lap for a man and a band that has shaped and influenced many artists on different levels. Where will they go next.
Amon Tobin must be flattered, because the man who samples everything, is being copied by everyone. Tobin’s fresh electronic manipulations are inspiring artists of all genre. The brazilian born Tobin infuses blues and jazz with his sound crunching techniques to fuel his cube of sound. So now we find him wrapping up his second leg of the ISAM tour. Heading towards the finish line with a big smile no doubt. And plenty of project offers waiting. Check out this New York clip.
